Back to School Night
Back to School Night will be on Tuesday, Sept. 19 for Pre-K to 2nd grade and on Wednesday, Sept. 20 for grades 3-5. During both nights, a presentation about the campus and processes will begin at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria. At 6:30 p.m., you’ll be released to go to your child’s classroom to hear from your student’s teacher about classroom policies and procedures. You’ll also have an opportunity to ask questions then. Thank you in advance for making plans for your student to remain at home since this is an evening for your uninterrupted learning.
Bike or Walk to school
We encourage physical fitness through walking or biking to school if you and your family are able. Please remember that when you arrive on school property (inside the fence), you should walk your bike or scooter for the safety of pedestrians. Also be considerate of our neighbors as you move through the neighborhood. We encourage the use of helmets when biking or scootering!
Color Days
Pre-K and PPCD students are learning all about colors the first weeks of school. We encourage the rest of the students at Summitt participate to show their support and help them learn and have fun. This is optional so please do not go out and purchase new clothes or accessories for your child. Here are the dates and colors:
Thursday, Aug. 31 – Blue
Friday, Sept. 1 – Green
Tuesday, Sept. 5 – White
Wednesday, Sept. 6 – Black
Thursday, Sept. 7 – Orange or Pink
Friday, Sept. 8 – Wear your favorite color(s)
T-shirt orders
Forms to order the 2017-2018 t-shirts will be going home this week. We have adult and youth sizes in short sleeve for $15 each. They run small, like the ones from last year. We also have a few long sleeves left (different design) at $15 each also. Please send cash or checks made out to Summitt PTA along with the completed order form. Shirts orders will be filled and sent home with the students.
Computer lab mouse pads
As we move into the following weeks, your students will begin coming to the Computer Lab and begin using the Labs in our Commons. We currently are in great need of mouse pads. The old ones have disintegrated.
If you have clean, spare mouse pads around your house, we would love to have them. If you work for or own a company that gives out mouse pads to customers, we would love them. We have approximately 90 computers in our labs. Our mice seem to work best with cloth pads and not so well with shiny plastic pads. If you would like to donate mouse pads to our labs, please drop them off in the office or the main Computer Lab.
Helpful apps
There are 2 apps you can download on your smartphone to keep track of your child’s lunch account and to find bus information. Download the Where’s the Bus app and you can get real-time information on where your child’s bus is located. The SchoolCafe app will enable you to see school menus; check, add or view account balances, etc.
