Spring Fling tickets on sale
Spring Fling will be at Abel’s North on Saturday, April 29 from 6-9 p.m. You can purchase tickets for this great parents-only event here. This is a fundraiser to pay for our technology teacher, Barbara Neill. Austin ISD does not pay for a technology teacher at this campus and we want to make sure our students know basic computer skills in order for them to succeed. More information about tickets, childcare, etc. is here: https://summitteagles.org/events/spring-fling/

Childcare is available at Summitt through United Family Care Social Services. It’s $20 for the first child, and $10 for additional siblings. The price includes pizza, dessert, beverage, movie, games, etc. This is open only to parents who are attending Spring Fling, and we need at least 15 families to participate in order to make it happen. More information is on the table in the Great Hall or click here for the registration form and waiver: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2U9EyoinyBNaDZhZHJVZHNDVG8/view?usp=sharing

STAAR Tests next week
STAAR Testing will be on Tuesday, March 28,  for 4th and 5th grade, and Wednesday, March 29 for 5th grade.

** Please note that parents are not allowed on campus during STAAR testing due to confidentiality and security. Please schedule lunch with your student on another day. This is for all grade levels due to testing groups in rooms throughout the campus.

Thank you from Boosterthon!
Summitt PTA wants the whole Summitt Elementary community to know how much we appreciate all of the support for the Boosterthon Fun Run!!! Without our students, teachers, staff, family and friends we could not have had such a successful campaign and event. So, a tremendous THANK YOU to all of you!

Yearbook updates
Fifth graders: We need your baby picture! Please send us a picture by March 25 of your fifth grader so we can include it in the Guess the Student in the Baby Picture page. It’s one of the most popular pages and we want to fill up the page with many cute babies! Please send us a full size (if possible) .jpg photo to [email protected] with the student’s name in the subject line.

If you have pictures you’ve taken during the school year that you’d like to submit for consideration, please send full size pictures to [email protected]. It would also be helpful to tell us the event and grades/teacher of the students in the picture.

The price to order a yearbook is now $30 until 3 p.m. on March 31 . You can order them online by visiting www.inter-state.com/yearbook. Enter the code 14348X. We did not offer any yearbooks to order at the beginning of the school year, so order yours this month!

Class and individual spring pictures update
Spring and group pictures were taken on Tuesday, March 7. It takes approximately 3 weeks for your school’s picture packages to arrive. Once you receive the pictures, parents will have about 7 days to select their package options and complete the payment envelope that is included in each picture package. Payment can be made using cash, check, or by paying online at inter-state.com/order.

The payment envelope and/or any unselected prints must be returned to the school within 7 days for each child to receive his or her responsibility pencil! Once all money envelopes and unselected prints are collected, your local sales representative will stop by the school to collect these items.

Need new change of clothes for students
If your student is in grades preK-2, please make sure that your student has a ziplock bag with a change of clothes that is size and weather appropriate. Any student can need to change, whether it’s a bathroom accident, spilled milk at lunch, or a big puddle after rain. The office is completely OUT of donated clothing to provide to students who need to change. Please ensure that your student has a change of clothes in their backpack.

If it has been there since August, thank you! Now is the time to double check that it still fits. If your student needs clean clothes, and there aren’t any in the backpack, we will need to keep them in the office until a parent can bring clean clothes, which disrupts their educational experience. Thank you very much for your time and attention to this!

Need clothing donations
Summitt clothes supply closet needs to be restocked. Students receive a change of clothes when they have wet accidents or get too dirty.  If your student needed to borrow clothes from the campus, please wash and return them. Please do not return the underwear. Due to health reasons, these have to be new.  With that being stated, Summitt’s clothes stock is in need of the following items:

New boy and girl underwear – Sizes 4 – 12
T-shirts new or gently used – Sizes 4-8 and a few sizes 10-12
Pants – new or gently used – Pull-on with elastic waists work best – Sizes 4 – 8
Socks – new or gently used – all sizes

Also, Summitt’s nurse office could use plastic grocery type bags to send home dirty/wet clothes. Bring these items to the office.

A vote will be taken to approve these nominations on April 3, 2017 during the PTA general meeting at 6:30 p.m. All members are invited to attend and vote. Nominations will also be taken from the floor at that time if there is any other interested party.
