Skate Night on Friday
Our first Skate Night is this Friday, Oct. 27 at Playland Skate Center, 8822 McCann, 6-11 p.m. Cost is $8 per skater. Tell them you’re with Summitt and $3 goes to Summitt PTA. This new Skate Night set up is during their regular business hours so people from the community will be there.

Thank you for supporting Summitt Elementary at Eagle Fest 2017!
Thank you all for making Eagle Fest 2017 a huge success. Thank you to our committee volunteers, our booth volunteers, all the families and friends who showed up to play games and show their support for our great school. Thank you to our 5th Graders for the super scary Haunted House! And a huge thank you to our Business Donors and Sponsors and our Eagle Family Sponsors for underwriting the event, allowing all money made to go directly to our students at Summitt Elementary!

Winner of the Tesla Model X 24-Hour Test Drive is Amber Guitrau! Congratulations Amber!

Please share your Eagle Fest 2017 photos with the yearbook team at [email protected]

Picture Retakes
Picture retake day is Thursday, November 2. If your child was absent that day a note was sent home with an order form. If you would like your child to have a retake from the original picture you can pick up an order form on the community information table in the great hall.

Shop at Kendra Scott
The Summitt PTA is partnering with Kendra Scott in the Domain for a Kendra Gives Back fundraising shopping party on Nov. 7th, from 6-8 pm. Kendra Scott will be donating 20% of all the sales during the event back to Summitt. Come out, buy your holiday gifts, and support our school in the process. This is not limited to just Summitt families, so please share with your friends, neighbors, and family members. If you are unable to attend but would like to participate, you can do so by either calling the store the day of the event and placing a phone order or by filling a pre-order form.

Family Night at the Texas Stars
Join other Summitt families for a fun night out cheering on the Texas Stars on Friday, Nov. 10th. Tickets purchased through www.texasstars.com/summitt will be grouped in the Summitt block. Make sure to use promo code: SUMMITT. Tickets are $15 per person, a $10 discount per ticket. Parking is included. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the game begins at 7:30 p.m. The Stars will be celebrating Military Appreciation that game as well. The ticket office recommends ordering your tickets by Nov. 6 to ensure space in the block. More info here.

Halloween Dress Up Day
This will be on October 31, 2017 and not part of Red Ribbon Week this year. The idea is still as follows: Students dress up as their favorite book character (super hero shirts are good if you don’t want to dress in a costume). NO Masks, props or accessories please for student safety reasons.

Got the time?…
This section features volunteer opportunities with specific time estimates. Check here each week to see what’s needed. That way, if you “got the time,” you can help out regularly for 5 to 15 minutes, or for a couple hours on a one-time project.

  • Here’s one you can do at home!—>If you can help cross out Summitt identification marks on discarded library materials, please contact Ms. Richey ([email protected]).

  • If you’re planning to have lunch with your child this next week, please consider being a door opener. There are around 40 visitors each day between 10:30 am and 1:00 pm. That’s a lot of door answering for our front office! You can help the office staff during their busiest time while hanging out with your child. You do not have to sit next to the door or open it up in person. You will be given a phone to answer the front door bell and then buzz in the visitors. If you’re able to help, please speak with Shana or Elizabeth in the front office.

T-shirt orders
T-shirt order forms went home last  week. It is not too late to get your 2017-2018 Summitt t-shirt! Limited sizes are available. Do you need an extra shirt for Friday Spirit Day? Maybe a shirt for a friend or family member? Get them while supplies last. It’s $15 each, cash or checks made out to Summitt PTA can be sent with the order form.

Box tops
Summitt will once again be collecting Box Tops to raise money for the PTA. Each Box Top earns us 10 cents, and last year we earned over $1000 in total! Collection sheets were included in the Monday folder, and extra sheets can be found on the Community Table in the Great Hall.  Please write your child’s name, teacher, and grade level on each form. For each form submitted, students will earn a small prize. To submit larger amounts of Box Tops, there’s a collection box in the office.  Please don’t attach Bonus Box Tops to submission forms; they should be submitted separately in the office collection box.  We will also have a collection box in the Milwood Neighborhood Library for those who don’t have kids at Summitt, so please tell your friends and neighbors! Thanks for helping!

Teacher Workroom News
The Summitt PTA has purchased a new laminator for the Teacher Workroom. Because it’s so fancy, a three-minute training is needed before using it. The wonderful office staff can show you the ins and outs of it before you use it.

Become a Summitt Business Sponsor

Do you own or work for a business that might be interested in supporting our school by becoming a Summitt Business Sponsor? It comes with good benefits, neighborhood presence, and is tax deductible. And 100% of the donation goes to our school and our kids! Any leads are appreciated! Just email the PTA at [email protected] and PTA will follow up with more info or take the lead you provide and approach them directly if you prefer.
