School Changes
Dr. Cruz, AISD Superintendent, recently sent an update via email regarding School Changes. The School Changes Process offers our best thinking for how we can perform better as a district. Our goal is to have a positive effect on the outcomes for our students. Trustees will vote on these changes in November.  The draft School Changes scenarios have been carefully analyzed and developed; however, they are not final. Each one is a starting point for conversation. AISD wants to know what you think about the draft School Changes scenarios and what you believe is missing.  AISD wants you to show up at our meetings and participate in our online discussions.  I will include any dates for these discussions or meetings in my newsletters.  Here is the link to access the updated proposals: https://www.austinisd.org/schoolchanges/scenarios

COMMUNITY NEWS
The Fitness School
We are excited to bring The Fitness School to Summitt Elementary!  The Fitness School, AISD’s 2019-2020 Partner of the Year, is bringing it’s After-School Enrichment Program to Summitt! The program converts time after school into productive, health-promoting activity. Based on the building blocks of fitness, we introduce all children regardless of age, competency level or current fitness level to a meaningful regime of fitness-building skills that will last a lifetime. Delivered on campus and after school with the assistance of interns from The University of Texas College of Education, Advanced Sciences, Kinesiology and Athletics Departments, The Fitness School provides our area kids a means to dissipate their restless energy and keep them active. This is our 4th year servicing Murchison Middle School and 3rd year at Hill Elementary and we couldn’t be any more excited to FINALLY be at Summitt for the upcoming year!

The program meets every Monday, Wednesday and Friday based on the AISD District Calendar. Students enrolling from Summitt will meet at Front Office at 3:00 p.m. and will be escorted outside by a Fit School employee for active play until class officially starts, 4:00 p.m. At 5:15 p.m., Murchison/Hill students will be driven back to Murchison for pickup while our Summitt kids will be picked up on campus. Questions? Email [email protected] or call 512-900-5758
