Crossing Guard Appreciation Week Jan. 28 – Feb. 1
Next week is Summitt’s Crossing Guard Appreciation Week. Our crossing guards keep our students safe, no matter what the weather. They will often put their own safety on the line to ensure students and families get across the street safely. And they sometimes have to deal with impatient or speeding drivers! Summitt’s Appreciation Team is encouraging everyone to give their crossing guard a special treat, note, or high five next week to show their appreciation.

  • Steve Reinhart at Amherst & Mosley (am)
  • Shannon Sullivan at Amherst & Mosley (pm)
  • Carita Guyton (“CG“) at Mosley & Brigadoon
  • Wish Kerstin Stewart all the best at Cassidy & Brigadoon—this Fri., Jan. 25 is her last day!

FOR 5th GRADERS: Murchison Middle School Transition Dates UPDATED
Dates are subject to change so it is always wise to check the middle school website about events that will be held on their campus.
We have the following dates scheduled:

  • January 24Course selection presentation at Summitt.  Murchison counselors will come to Summitt at 9am to present choice sheets to 5th graders and to talk about course descriptions.  5th graders should bring their choice sheets home for parents to view on this day.
  • January 255th grade showcase at Murchison.  This date has changed from the original.  5th grade students will travel by bus to MMS.  They will rotate through introductory presentations about the campus and it’s programs.  Students will be gone from about 9-12 am.  Parents are welcome to attend but will need to provide their own transportation.
  • February 5–  Choice sheet night at Murchison.  This is an opportunity for parents and students to go and see the school and ask questions about elective choices.  Foreign languages, Band, Theater Arts, Art, Choir, Technology classes, etc. will have tables set up with staff to answer questions to help you make decisions.
  • February 8–  Choice sheets will be due to Mrs. Cardosa at Summitt.  If you do not submit a choice sheet, Mrs. Cardosa will have to meet with the student to make choice sheet selections so that the student will have classes at the beginning of the year.
