Register Today for the 2020-2021 School Year
Returning & New Student Registration is now open. Please, please register as soon as possible to help prevent beginning of the year and mid-year staffing changes and allow Summitt to get the most resources possible! Visit the Austin ISD Parent Cloud (https://my.austinisd.org) to register your child for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Even if you are unsure of your next year options, you can still register and if something changes your child will simply be automatically dropped after they are “no shows” in August. This allows for our school to secure our teachers for the next year and it is always better to over plan than under! Thank you!

Campus Wide Cell Phone Reminder
It is important as we embark on the spring semester that we keep our students focused on their social, emotional and academic well being while in school. In order to do this, we have to ensure that cell phones are not a distraction or hindrance to your child’s learning and instructional day. We ask that students turn off their cell phones when they enter the building and keep them off until after dismissal.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
From our Beautification T From our Beautification Team
We have been awarded another $3000 grant to increase our pollinator garden! The work will start on March 28th at 9 am. Please join us to help!

The Beautification team would like to encourage parents to talk to their kids about garden etiquette.  When students see our garden and like the flowers or the marbles/stones in the butterfly waterers, please think about what would happen if everyone took one? There would be none!

The waterers for the pollinators need the marbles and rocks to keep the bees and butterflies from drowning.  Now they have all been taken. Please don’t take things out of the garden. Please don’t walk into the garden. It takes some time for the plants to become established, and if the area around them is walked on too much the soil can become too tight and compacted for them to grow well.

We are still in need of donations of hoses or sprayers. Please call or text Mary Ann at (512) 944-7580 to donate.

Summitt Appreciation Weeks
Want to say “thank you” to everyone who makes your child’s school week a good experience?  The Summitt Appreciation Team created “thank yous” this fall semester for our custodians, food service workers, cafeteria monitors, bus drivers, and teaching assistants. Next semester, we will thank and celebrate national appreciation weeks for crossing guards, counselors, academic specialists, librarians, office administration, principal and vice principal, teachers, and nurses.

To show your appreciation, go to the Summitt online store to donate $5 or more. We also accept cash/check donations and can send you more information to make this happen. Email questions to [email protected].

Teacher Workroom Help Needed
If you have 10-15 minutes to spare, the Teacher Workroom could use some help next week. Teachers need help with copying, die cutting, and laminating. Hours are 7:10 am-3:30 pm. If you can help, please contact Karen Reyna at [email protected].
