Meet the Teacher Night

Meet the Teacher will be on Thursday, Aug. 16. This event is your chance to purchase T-shirts (new lower price!), PTA memberships, sign up for homeroom duties, meet other families in your class, etc. Doors will open at 3:30 pm for Pre-K/Kindergarten and 4 pm for all other grades. This is a come-and-go event so you do not have to get there when it starts.

  • When you enter, go to the cafeteria to fill out an order form to purchase T-shirts, annual PTA memberships, headphones, agendas, yearbooks, etc. YOU MUST PAY FOR ITEMS AT THE CASHIER BEFORE PICKING THEM UP AT EACH STATION. We accept check, cash and credit cards.

  • Class assignments will be available at tables in the cafeteria. Summitt Elementary staff will be organized according to grade level to help ease traffic and get you to classrooms as soon as possible.

  • You can skip the line and order online! The Summitt Store is open and you can order now! Go to https://summitteagles.org/store/ and you will be able to order online and then pick up PTA memberships, assignment books, T-shirts, headphones, etc. at Meet the Teacher Night. You can pay with credit card or bank transaction via PayPal.

  • The online store will be open until Thursday, Aug. 16 at noon.

  • If you ordered school supplies online at the end of the year, your supply kits will already be distributed to your child’s classroom. School supply kits include headphones and agendas for necessary grades, so there is no need to purchase those additional items.

  • If you didn’t order supplies online, bring your school supplies to leave in your classroom.

  • We love our Summitt alumni! We’d love to have our middle and high schoolers come and help at Meet the Teacher. They can get volunteer hours and see former teachers! They can help distribute supplies, show parents to the classrooms, entertain younger students while their parents fill out forms, etc.

  • There will be tables in the Great Hall with information on after school care, after school clubs/activities, etc.

  • Because there will be volunteers setting up and teachers will be getting their classrooms ready, please do not arrive before your designated time.

Meet the Teacher Volunteers Needed!
You can help make Meet the Teacher a success. We need people to greet parents, hand out T-shirts and headphones, be cashiers and more. Older siblings in middle and high school can volunteer, too! The PTA has split the night into shifts so volunteers have time to go to their own student’s teacher classrooms. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0b45ada723aa8-meet

Classroom locations and Bell Schedule
Pre-K – 7:45 am – 2:15 pm (assembly starts at 7:30 am)
Kinder to 5th grade – 7:45 am – 3 pm  (assembly starts at 7:30 am)

Doors are open for students at 7:10 am. Your student is considered tardy if they arrive after 7:45 am.

Many grade levels are moving from their current location next year. We will bring Pre-K and Life Skills/PPCD from the portables into the main building. All of 3rd grade and half of 4th grade will be in the portables. Kinder and 2nd grade will move to a different location in the main building. Click here for the map. All classroom locations are subject to change.

Boo Hoo, Woo Hoo Breakfast
Whether it’s dropping off your first child or your fourth child for Pre-K or Kindergarten, the first day of school is full of emotions. Summitt PTA invites all parents of Pre-K and Kinder students to the Boo Hoo, Woo Hoo breakfast on Monday, Aug. 20. After you drop off your child in their classroom, join other parents in the library for some breakfast treats. Summitt PTA members and some staff will be on hand to answer questions.

Wanted: Homeroom Parents for the 2018-2019 School Year
Please consider signing up to be homeroom parent for your child’s classroom. You would organize class parties and coordinate class families’ involvement in school fundraisers. You do not have to do all the work from scratch! A coordinator will provide you with a packet of tips and recommendations, as well as example emails and flyers that you can use. Speak to your child’s teacher at next Thursday’s Meet the Teacher. For more information, email [email protected].

Become an Eagle Family Sponsor
Are you pressed for time but want to support Summitt students? The Summitt PTA is happy to announce that the no-hassle giving fundraiser is back for the 2018-19 school year. A simple way to directly support our students’ education and experience at Summitt is by becoming a  Eagle Family Sponsor. All 100% of your $100 donation is tax-deductible and directly supports Summitt PTA programs. To get more information and to purchase your sponsorship online, visit https://summitteagles.org/sponsors/family-sponsors/. For questions regarding the Eagle Family program, contact Sarah Allen at [email protected].

Support Summitt’s Appreciation Team
Would you like to say “thank you” to everyone who makes your child’s school week a good experience? Want to show your appreciation for Summitt’s staff, but don’t know how you’d thank them all? Become a part of Summitt’s Appreciation Team. Last school year the team created “thank yous” for over 60 Summitt staff and non-homeroom teachers. The team relies on donations of time and supplies from the Summitt community to create posters and goody baskets for staff. Please help the team make every appreciation week a special one:

  • Email [email protected] if you want to help plan appreciation weeks.

  • Sign up to bring goodies for appreciation days. Look for links to online signups in the weekly newsletter and in emails from your child’s class homeroom parent.

  • Contact [email protected] if you or a business you work for are able to sponsor an appreciation week. Last year one Summitt parent’s employer gave metal water bottles with beanies inside for the crossing guards. We’d love to have items like that or modest gift cards from a restaurant or store a Summitt family owns or works for.

  • Donate cash or gift cards to Dollar Tree, Walmart, Target, HEB, or Michael’s to help the team purchase decorating supplies or the last few items not taken in a signup. (Contact [email protected])
