Message from Principal Standish
Dear Parents/Guardians: As we begin our fifth week of school, the district is completing the district campuses’ leveling process. Summitt’s current enrollment is 829 students strong. Summitt’s Kindergarten has exceeded enrollment. An additional class has been added. Students from every current classroom make up the new classroom lead by Summitt’s previous second grade teacher, Mrs. Miller. She is excited to be returning to kindergarten where she once taught. With this being said, Summitt’s second grade enrollment was below. Therefore, Mrs. Miller’s second grade students joined the existing six second grade classrooms last week. First grade will remain with six teachers. Mrs. McClung will be the permanent sixth teacher. Approval to hire a fifth grade Spanish Bilingual teacher was received. Therefore, Summitt’s fifth grade will remain with five teachers. The interview process for this permanent teacher will begin this week. Summitt’s Pre-Kg, third grade and fourth grade will remain unchanged.
A special thank you to the parents for their patience and understanding during this process. You are truly appreciated.
Dedra Standish, Principal
