Are you ready for the first day of school? Stay dry and we hope everyone will have a great school year. Here are some things to know about the first day/week of school:
Morning procedures

Doors open at 7:10 a.m. Except for the first day of school, Assembly starts in the cafeteria at 7:30 a.m. The school day begins at 7:45 a.m. so students need to be in their classrooms at that time or they will be counted as Tardy. The school day ends at 2:57 p.m.

On Monday, the first day of school, you may walk your child to their classroom beginning at 7:30 a.m.

There will be NO ASSEMBLY on Monday, Aug. 22. Starting on Tuesday, assembly will begin at 7:30 a.m. It will last 5-7 minutes. Students will go to the cafeteria and sit with their class. After assembly ends, teachers will lead their students to their classrooms. Parents may attend assembly but will need to stand in the back.

It will probably be wet or rainy on Monday so please be patient at drop-off. If you are walking your child to their classroom, please park in designated parking spots.

Breakfast will be available as usual in the music hall on Assembly days. You can get the lunch menu here.

If your child received Free or Reduced lunch last year, this is good until October 1 so you do not need to do any paperwork yet.

Kindergarten and Pre-k parents: after you drop off your child, come by the library for the Boo Hoo Woo Hoo Breakfast. There will be coffee, juice and pastries for you while you chat with Summitt staff and PTA members.
Afternoon procedures

The first bell will ring at 2:52 p.m. to release students who go to after school care or go on the bus.

A second bell will ring at 2:57 p.m. This is for parents/caretakers who pick up students at at the classrooms or at the pick-up lane. Please do not pick up at the classrooms until 2:57 p.m. Teachers are busy getting students ready for the end of the day.

Students who walk or ride their bikes home will be released at 3 p.m.

Students who are not picked up by 3:05 p.m. will need to be picked up at the office.
Other news

If your child rides the bus, Austin ISD has an app, WheresTheBus, which will let you know where your child’s bus is located. It’s available for download on your phone/tablet .

If you did not purchase a headphone or assignment book, they will be available for purchase in the morning for cash or check only. Assignment books are required for Grades 3-5 and are $5. Headphones are required for Grades 2-5 and are $6. Students may bring headphones from home but it must be kept at school all year.

We sold out of several t-shirt sizes and are ordering more. We will sell t-shirts when they arrive.
