Halloween candy donations
Wondering what to do with all that left-over Halloween candy? Donate it to the Summitt Service Team! They will be bagging up all wrapped candy and sending it overseas to military service members. Candy can be dropped in the large house-shaped container in the Great Hall on Thursday, November 1 and Friday, November 2. Thank you for your donations!
PTA meeting on Monday
PTA invites all Summitt families, friends, and neighbors to attend our November 5th General meeting from 6:30-7:30pm in the library. We will hear updates on the 2016 Mobility Bond/Safe Routes to School and from this year’s No Place For Hate student committee. In addition, Frannie Sanchez with Partners for Education Agriculture & Sustainability (PEAS, www.peascommunity.org) to come and talk about their school programs.

It’s time for the Fall Can Contest. Which class will win an ice cream party by bringing in the most aluminum cans? Individual students also win prizes! Drop your bagged cans off by the trailer next to the basketball court. Get an entry form from the Great Hall community table. The last day to submit will be November 16. Questions? Book Fair
Fall Book Fair is coming in two weeks, Nov. 12-16, and we have lots of opportunity for you to support and participate. As you may know, proceeds from the book fair go to special teaching assistance and after school programs such as Math Pentathlon. Keep your eye out for our All for Books donation program by collecting loose change and dollar bills to buy books for kids needing assistance.

Recycle those Pringles cans you won at Eagle Fest!
The third grade needs clean, dry Pringles cans (with lids). Please drop them off in a labeled container in the Great Hall.
Grandparents Day luncheonGrandparents Luncheon will be Wednesday, November 14th. This is a fun opportunity for grandparents (or other adult figures) to come have lunch with their students. Please plan to arrive at least 15-30 minutes before the scheduled lunch time to get signed in. Sign up to volunteer for Grandparents Luncheon if you are able. Coffee with the Principal in December
There will not be a Coffee with the Principal in November. The next event will be in the evening – Monday, Dec 3 at 6:30pm. Thank you to Dunkin’ Donuts for generously donating yummy treats for October’s Coffee with the Principal.
Safe Routes to School Survey

Make a Plan to Vote!
Summitt is not a polling location this year so please make a plan to vote at another location. There are several races on the November 6th ballot this year which will impact Summitt. Please go to www.Vote411.org to find out what’s on your ballot and how candidates stand on the issues. If you’re registered to vote in Austin, you can vote at any polling location. The full list of polling locations can be found on the Travis County Clerk website.

Art class with Mr. Jones
ArtAfter with Mr. Jones will start next week. The Monday session from Nov. 5-Dec. 17 focuses on 2-D drawings and paintings. The Tuesday session on Nov. 6-Dec. 18 focuses on 3-D sculptures. Young Rembrandts art classes
Students will have a blast drawing their favorite emojis in a fun collage as well as exploring color with our wristwatch color wheel lesson. Our art history lesson focuses on Andrew Wyeth, and seasonal art will be featured with a cartoon style dog with antlers and a candy cane graphic.
