Counselors’ Chronicle
Update on Guidance from Sandy Cumming
I am meeting with all the classes in the following grades: Pre-Kindergarten Kindergarten, and Second. We are meeting every other week; the teachers will continue to do their Social/Emotional Learning lessons each Monday. I will be reinforcing those concepts during my lessons.

Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classes  have met “I Care Cat.” He is a wonderful stuffed cat that visits the classrooms and “talks” with the children about friendship skills, making good choices, and getting along with our peers. Throughout the year we will also be learning about classroom rules, how to listen to each other, safety, how we solve small problems/ when we need adult help solving problems, friendship, career awareness, and anti bullying. Second grade will contue to be working on communication (verbally and nonverbally), classroom rules, caring and empathy, personal safety, and anti bullying. We will also do some career awareness.
