Summitt Book swap this week
It’s not too late to bring in your old books for the Summitt Summer Book Swap this week. Next Tuesday, Mrs. Richey will announce throughout the day for students with Book Swap tickets to come to the library to “shop” for a new-to-you book. If need be, we will continue with our book swapping into next Wednesday. Students can bring up to 5 gently used books to the library beginning until Thursday, May 25. For every book brought in, students will receive a ticket. (1 book = 1 ticket)  During the last week of school, Mrs. Richey will put out all the great books donated on the library tables, and students will have a chance to come spend their tickets on something “new to you!” More information is here.

TechLab STEAM Camp at Anderson
TechLab is a youth day camp that offers “hands-on” learning in science, technology, engineering, art and math like no other summer program in the greater Austin area. It offers curriculum and equipment that many children will NEVER see in their local elementary or middle school classrooms. TechLab is the result of an innovative partnership between the Capitol Area Council Boy Scouts of America, Austin Independent School District and Girl Scouts of Central Texas. Registration and dates are here.

Working alongside faculty from Anderson High School and across Austin Independent School District, we supply the latest tech and tech-art tools in an educational and safe yet fun and informal environment where campers can develop a passion for using technology to create and learn. Each year, our camp will ask children to pretend to be scientists trying to solve a challenge. This year, campers will pretend to go out to the rainforest to study how to complete scientific and discovery expeditions to Earth’s various rainforest regions. While doing so, kids won’t hear a lecture; they will ask the questions and they will use their imagination (and our tools) to find the answers. Click here for a flyer.
