Message from Principal Standish
Happy New Year and Welcome Back!! Looking forward to another great semester full of learning and sharing. Please ensure that your student attends school everyday – all day and that they arrive on time. Our teachers can not teach your student if they are not at school. Our students are our future!! If however your student can not attend school due to illness, please inform their teacher of the situation. Thank you!

Easter Seals Donation Drive
Wondering what you should do with all those clothes and household items you cleaned out over the break. We are here to help. Summitt PTA will be holding a clothing and household items drive on Saturday, January 28 with Easter Seals of Central Texas. This is a fundraiser for the PTA because Easter Seals pays .20 cents per pound for soft items like clothes, shoes, clothing accessories, sheets, small rugs and similar items. And they also pay .05 cents per pound for small household items such as dishes, pots, pans, or any other small items used in a home. Donations can be dropped off in the Great Hall during school hours January 23-27. The Easter Seals truck will be on campus for donation pick up on January 28th from 10am – noon.
Lost and Found
Please take a look in the Lost and Found for your student’s warm coat. The Lost and Found is full of coats and the cold weather is coming this week. All items not claimed by Friday, January 27th will be donated to Easter Seals on Saturday, January 28th.
Fifth Grade News
Instrument Test Drive – The Murchison Middle School Band and Orchestra are hosting their annual Instrument Test Drive for 5th graders. This is the best opportunity to have your student come try the instruments offered at MMS! It’s on Saturday, Jan. 21 from 9 am – 4 pm and Thursday, Jan. 26 from 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm in the MMS Cafeteria. You only need to come to one of those days. When you come in, you’ll fill out a form and bring it to each instrument station that you test drive. At each station, the instructor will have the student try out the instrument and give a rating for each test. It should only take about 20 -30 minutes to try instruments!
