School Counselor Appreciation Week is THIS week!
National School Counseling Week is February 4th – 8th, 2019. Please remember our counselors, Courtney Cardosa and Kimberlee Guerrero, and the important impact they have on our students’ lives! You can send a Thank You card from your child to school or there will be “Thank You” cards in the front office available if you or your student would like to personally thank your counselor. Chocolate and coffee are also welcome!

Speaking of Counselors… Don’t forget all 5th Grade Choice Sheets are Due on Fri. Feb. 8th Choice sheets will be due to Mrs. Cardosa at Summitt.  If you do not submit a choice sheet, Mrs. Cardosa will have to meet with the student to make choice sheet selections so that the student will have classes at the beginning of the year.

Kinder’s Eager Eagle Readers Challenge Extended!  Since the fall our kindergartners have been working very hard to read 100 books at home by the 100th day of school.  While we just reached the 100th day of school and many of our kiddos have reached their goal, we still have a few left who have not. But, it is not too late! We are extending the deadline to read 100 books until the end of February. Remember to send those reading logs in for your cool reading prizes, and get ready to celebrate the magic of reading with a special event hosted by our very own Summitt Library. You don’t want to miss it!!!
Going for the Gold Luncheon: Our top 25% “Going for the Gold” 5th grade readers will be invited to a celebratory luncheon, Monday, February 11 beginning at 12:30 in the library. These students have been competing in a yearlong challenge to read award-winning books in an effort to expand their literature palette. This optional reading challenge encourages students to try a variety of quality literature outside of the mainstream and requires sustained effort and dedication.  We will be having a mid-year celebration of Chik-Fil-A nuggets, fruit salad, chips, various desserts, and lemonade. Parents are welcome to attend. In particular, we could use some volunteers to help with decorating the library, picking up the food, serving food and drinks, as well as bringing in desserts.  Please go to the sign up genius page at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E49A9AA2FA5F58-going or email Denise Richey at [email protected] if you are interested in volunteering.

From the Nurse:
We have had more cases of Flu come through our doors in the past couple of weeks.  Please remember that students must be 24 hours fever free without medication before they can return to school. See Flyer for more info on keeping your kids well!
