Help make the yearbook awesome
Do you like to make collages on that Instagram/Facebook account? Then the yearbook committee needs your help! We will be meeting Sunday, Feb. 28, at 7-8PM, to divide the pages. We can meet at Silver Grill. Most of the classroom pages are done but we still have about 12+ pages left to lay out – Fall Fest, 5th grade Science Expo, Lion Dance, etc. We have pictures but need people to take on a page or two to put them together. You work on a simple online layout program. Working together we can finish the yearbook in the next couple of weeks. Please contact Diana George at 512.653.1225 or email [email protected] if you can help.
Get items out of Lost and Found

Reading Rally
This Friday, February 26, at 1 pm in the Summitt cafeteria, students will rev up for summer reading by learning about our upcoming reading rally! Students and their families are encouraged to renew or purchase magazine subscriptions for summer reading. This is a chance to gear up for those long hot summer months with some cool “just for kids” magazines while supporting our library. Be on the look out for an envelope with all the details.
GT News
All Spring GT nominees will take their online CogATs, Mondays, March 7 and March 21. Kinder through 2nd grade students will have 3 test sessions. And 3rd – 5th graders will complete the test in 2 sessions. I had hoped to begin, Monday, February 22, but was unable to due to a conflict with the computer lab. Rest assured, testing will occur next month, and will be spread out over those 2 days, and perhaps a third, to ensure all students are given adequate rest time between sessions.
Parents are encouraged to discuss the event with their students. Mrs. Richey will be the one calling for them, and we will be answering a series of questions online to assess their learning style and habits. This is not for a grade, but rather to make sure we are meeting their needs as students. If for some reason, your child is out on either of these days, we will need to make arrangements to make up the test before Friday, March 25.
Afterschool Gifted and Talented Enrichment Club
We are long overdue on our GT meeting! Let’s get together this month, Monday afternoon, February 29, before we leap into March, and celebrate our latest book crushes. Throb, throb!
Bring a book or two to exchange, and an advertisement that “sells” us on the book. Students are encouraged to get creative — make a poster, commercial, or song about your book. Need some inspiration? Head to Pinterest and type in “Book Reports” to find myriad fun and fantastic ideas. Or, stop by the library with any questions, and I’ll be happy to assist you.
All interested students with a signed parent permission slip are welcome. Print yours here, or stop by the office to pick one up. Parents are encouraged to attend as well. https://www.dropbox.com/s/6sh63v86vcis2fl/GT_Afterschool_Club_Permission_Slip.doc?dl=0
