Classroom Winter Parties!
Thurs., Dec. 20 – check times with your teacher
If you plan on attending the classroom party, you will need to come to the front office for a Raptor badge before going to the classroom. Please plan for at least 15 minutes prior to the party time to come to the office. The office is going to try and pre-print badges too, so if you want to do this click on the *link* below. **This will be for visitors who have already run their driver’s license through our system prior to the Winter Party.https://goo.gl/forms/ZpWtlvQXPFjiQwPn2

Help Spruce Up Summitt Outdoor Spaces!
Saturday, January 5th from  12noon – 3:00pm
The trees, raised beds and garden areas at Summitt need a little love this winter and we are inviting all Summitt families who are interested to come help spruce up these outdoor spaces.  Please bring your own tools, gloves and drinking water.  Useful tools include loppers, hand pruners, rakes of all sizes, hand saws, trowels, weeding rakes and shovels.  Scope of work includes removing unwanted plants and trees from beds, light pruning of small ornamental trees, spreading mulch around vegetable garden area and general tidiness of beds. We may even plant some winter-hardy transplants.  Meet at the raised bed garden north of the main entrance and we will disperse across campus from there.  Contact Kenneth Crockett (512-590-1263) or Lisa Benton (512-698-3210) with any questions.

GOODWILL Section:Volunteers needed for SUMMITT LIBRARY INVENTORY 2018
Each year in an effort to keep our collection current and accurate, the librarian must scan each and every item in the library collection, including all book, videos, CDs, and professional materials. With about 20,000 items to scan, and a 2 week window in which to do it, the librarian is very appreciative of any extra hands. Volunteers must be able to go from a sitting position to a standing position comfortably, and monitor a few basic operations on a computer. It is a great fit for anyone looking to donate their time in a quiet setting with minimal interaction with others. Summitt Summer Reading
The Summer Reading Initiative last year was such a success that it is coming back this year! At the end of the school year every Summitt student will choose three brand new books to take home for summer reading. Along with events over the summer with storytimes and book swaps to further encourage summer reading. If you would like to offset the cost of books for your student, or sponsor books for several students, please follow this link: http://give.livingtree.com/c/summitt-summer-reading-initiative.  Please consider also sharing this link on your social media accounts or via email to friends and relatives. THANK YOU!

Got the time

This section features volunteer opportunities. Check here each week to see what’s needed. That way, if you “got the time,” you can find the perfect option.

  • If you have any time now through December 20, please consider helping our librarian with inventory, such as scanning barcodes and looking for lost books. Please contact Denise Richey ([email protected]) with questions.
  • If you have time on December 20, please help open the front door and direct volunteers to the office to get name tags for class parties. Parties are starting at 7:45am, 9:00am, 1:00pm and 2:00pm.
