Instrument Test Drive
The Murchison Middle School Band and Orchestra are hosting their annual Instrument Test Drive for 5th graders. This is the best opportunity to have your student come try the instruments offered at MMS!  It’s on Saturday, Jan. 21 from 9 am – 4 pm  and Thursday, Jan. 26 from 4:30 – 7:30 pm in the MMS Cafeteria. You only need to come to one of those days. When you come in, you’ll fill out a form and bring it to each instrument station that you test drive. At each station, the instructor will have the student try out the instrument and give a rating for each test. It should only take about 20 -30 minutes to try instruments!

Need pictures for yearbook

Send those pictures to be considered for the yearbook – [email protected]. Please send full size images with the event name, grade and teacher name if possible. We prefer small group pictures over individual student pictures.

Balcones Youth Sports registration
The early bird registration period for the 2017 Spring Ball Season continues all month! This means if you register your players online within this time period you will receive a $10 discount per player off of your registration fee. If you have multiple players, you will also receive the applicable sibling discounts. The early bird registration period is for all Little League, PONY Fast-Pitch Softball players and now our girls Kick Ball league.

During the off season, the BYS Board of Directors continued to volunteer their time behind the scenes to ensure that Balcones Youth Sports offers a great season and the 2017 Spring Season promises to be a terrific one. We will have a few baseball clinics at the BYS facility in late January and early February. Teams will be formed by mid-February and practices will begin within days of team formation. The Spring Season will begin in late February and will end in late May.

Players and parents of Little League can expect two practices per week, mostly Saturday games (some week night for make-up games due to weather or other factors). Also, players will have an opportunity to participate in the MLB PitchHit&Run Competition, Balcones Day Festival, the End-of-Season Tournament in late May, the District 11 City Tournament in June, and/or the State All-Stars Tournament in July. Register now and save money! All registrants will receive updates of upcoming clinics and other important dates as we get closer to the season. Practices for the PONY Fast-Pitch Softball and Girls Kickball season will also begin in late February.  For more information about registration, visit our FAQs page.
