From the Computer Lab:
As temperatures start falling, I am reminded this is my favorite time of year! No, not just the holidays with all the food, fun and family… it’s time for our annual HOUR OF CODE!

In the weeks to come all classes, Kinder through 5th grade, will come to the Lab for a fun coding activity. If you would like to join us check with your student’s teacher for the week, day and time for their visit. You do not need experience with coding, the lessons are self-guided. Hope to see you there! If you have questions you can contact me at [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) (Campus Technology Facilitator).

Coat Drive
Our 5th grade Girl Scout Troop #1277 is holding a Coat Drive to support Covenant United Methodist FreeStore. As you trade warmer weather clothes for colder weather and find that your child’s coat no longer fits or your gently used coat is no longer the one you’ll wear this winter season, please consider donating it to the Troop 1277 coat drive. The troop is working on their bronze award, and this coat drive is one part of their project. Coats still in the lost and found after school on Thursday, December 19, will be donated to Covenant’s FreeStore. Questions? Contact Sarah Allen at [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) .

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Summitt Appreciation Weeks
Want to say “thank you” to everyone who makes your child’s school week a good experience? The Summitt Appreciation Team created “thank yous” this fall semester for our custodians, food service workers, cafeteria monitors, bus drivers, and teaching assistants. Next semester, we will thank and celebrate national appreciation weeks for crossing guards, counselors, academic specialists, librarians, office administration, principal and vice principal, teachers, and nurses.

To show your appreciation, go to the Summitt online store (https://summitteagles.org/store/?model_number=apprec-team-donation) to donate $5 or more. We also accept cash/check donations and can send you more information to make this happen. Email questions to [email protected] (mailto:[email protected]) .

Volunteers Needed for Summitt Library Inventory
Each year in an effort to keep our collection current and accurate, the librarian must scan each and every item in the library collection, including all books, videos, CDs, and professional materials. With about 20,000 items to scan and a two-week window in which to do it, the librarian is very appreciative of any extra hands. Volunteers must be able to go from a sitting position to a standing position comfortably and monitor a few basic operations on a computer. It is a great fit for anyone looking to donate their time in a quiet setting with minimal interaction with others. Catch up on your favorite podcast or finish that audiobook you're halfway through! Please sign up here. (https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E49A9AA2FA5F58-summitt1)
