Summitt Family Night tonight
February’s Family Night will be at Chick-fil-A (Parmer/Mopac) on Wednesday, Feb. 8 from 5-8 p.m. Tell them you’re with Summmitt, place your receipt in a basket and a portion of the proceeds benefit Summitt PTA.
Fun Run starts Monday
Our big event to raise money for Math and Reading Intervention will kick off on Monday morning! There will be 9 days of exciting lessons led by the staff at Boosterthon. On Thursday, February 23, we will have the Summitt Eagle Fun Run!!! Our plan is to have it outdoors with students running on 2 tracks set up by the Boosterthon team. If the weather does not cooperate we will hold the Fun Run in the gym.
Summitt students will each be wearing a large sticker on their back to keep track of their completed laps. We need volunteers to help mark those laps. Please sign up for one, two or all of the time slots. Last year was a blast! Please sign up to help us out: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4FACAC22A0FC1-boosterthon1
Here is the schedule:
8:15am: PreK, K & 1st graders
9:15am: 2nd & 3rd graders
10:15am: 4th & 5th graders
Each student will also be able to star in their very own pledge video when you register them for the Fun Run. See Ms. Standish’s preview video: Go to www.boostertube.com and insert this link: https://funrun.boosterthon.com/a/s/WiMU5qj7. You will be prompted to download the video, but it will not really download. It just takes you to a video. For more information about the Fun Run, check out our page: https://summitteagles.org/events/boosterthon/
Rules for using the playground after school
Please remember (as stated in the Monday Folder inside cover under the section – Use of the Playground) “Only children enrolled in the Extend-a Care after school program will have access to the playground before 6:30 PM.”
Extend-a Care is wonderful in that for a few minutes after school is dismissed – before they lead their groups outside – they don’t mind students accompanied by their parent to play on the playground for a few minutes.
****Remember that all students are to go home at the end of the school day. All students need to be in the supervision of an adult when on campus.
Dad and Daughter Bowling
Mark your calendars for Summitt dad and daughter bowling fun at Highland Lanes, 8909 Burnet Rd! It will be on Sunday, February 26th, from 3-5 pm. Cost is $10 per person.
Buy tickets online or look for an order form in Monday folders next week. We hope to see you there! Questions: Jennie Leon – email@example.com
5th grade volleyball
For the past 9 years, 5th graders from Summitt Elementary have been participating in Explore UT’s Volleyball Playday. They will be receiving permission forms this week in PE. This year it is taking place on Saturday, March 4, at the University of Texas. The 5th grade teams will play 3 matches against other Austin ISD schools. They will also get to participate in a 35 minute volleyball clinic with the Women’s Volleyball Team and Men’s club team at the University of Texas. We’ve had a wonderful response to this event and have had to form two teams in the past years. In order for your child to be a part of a team, we will need the permission slip signed and returned by the morning of Friday, February 10th. We will start accepting forms immediately after morning assembly in the gym. There will be an area to form the volleyball line. The first 28 students will be assigned to one of two teams in the order the permission slips are received. No forms will be accepted before this time.
Students who would like to participate need to be able to attend after school practice Monday and Wednesday from 3-3:45 pm the two weeks before the playday. Parents must be able to provide transportation to and from the UT Recreation Center on the morning of the playday. Summitt is scheduled to start play at 9:05 AM on Saturday, March 4th. This is a fantastic event to showcase your son or daughter’s volleyball skills that we have been learning in PE the last 6 years. I hope you will allow them to participate, and if you have any questions please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call our PE office at 414-0587. We will send out an information packet as the volleyball playday approaches.
CATCH Family Night
Also, please mark your calendars for our Summitt CATCH Family Fun Night on Thursday, April 6th from 5:30-7 pm. We will be teaming up with the Book Fair this year. If you know of any business that would like to promote health and wellness at our event, please let me know!
We are currently hosting a healthy eating snack recipe contest for 3rd-5th grade students. They received information about it in PE this week. Top 3 nutritious, no-bake recipes will win a snack-making party and Fuel Up to Play 60 goodies! Recipes are due by February 28th!
National School Counseling Week
