Field Day
Summitt’s “Hero Up” Field Day is this week! Kinder, 1st and 2nd grade students will have their field day on Thursday, May 28th. Then 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students will have their field day on Friday, May 29th.

There are 10 stations set up for the morning each day from 8:30-11:00 am. Pre-K will participate in a few stations at 11 am on Thursday. Lunch schedules will be slightly altered both days, so please check with your child’s teacher if you are planning to come by.

The afternoon of each field day will be set up like last year. Each grade level that had field day in the morning will come to the gym for 45 minutes in the afternoon for movie and snack time. PTA will be selling snacks (50 cents each) and Rita’s Ice ($3 each) as an end of the year fundraiser.

The 5th grade students will be running the stations for our K-2 students on Thursday, but we do need volunteers to run stations for our older kids on Friday. Please email me at ( if you can volunteer.

Also, please donate water bottles, juice boxes or packs of chalk for our “Regeneration” (break) station this year… it would be greatly appreciated! Drop those off in the office or gym. We also need to borrow a few ice chests/water coolers. Please make sure those are labeled. Thanks so much to the Texan Market for donating ice for our Field Days! Thanks again for your support.

Summitt Family Day
Join other Summitt families on Tuesday, June 2 at Phil’s Ice House ( and Amy’s Ice Cream ( off Hwy 183 (Anderson Mill Exit). Tell them you’re with Summitt and they will donate a percentage of the sales to Summitt PTA. The more customers they get, the bigger the percentage of the sales we receive! The best part is that this is an all day event, so you can come for lunch or dinner. Parents can bring yummy Phil’s burgers/corn dog/chicken tenders for lunch. Or you can come after school and take advantage of their Parent’s Recess happy hour from 3-5:30 p.m. and let the kids play on the big playscape while you enjoy beer and wine specials. And of course, end the meal with some great ice cream at Amy’s!

Fifth Grade News
Our fifth graders are leaving Summitt with a big bang next week. We hope you can come celebrate with them. Here’s the schedule of events:

We will have headphones available for sale again in August for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Other grades do not need headphones.
