Yearbook Orders extended
The deadline to order yearbooks has been extended to Friday, March 13. You can pick up a form on the Community table in the Great Hall or order online: Enter code 852984. We did not sell yearbooks in advance this year, so please order it if you want one. Yearbooks are $25 per book.

Rita’s Ice on Friday
Kick off Spring Break with Rita’s Ice! They will be here at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, March 13. It’s $3 per cup. Cash only. A portion of the sales benefits Summitt PTA.

Bad weather make up day
The bad weather make up day will be Friday, May 22.

Spring Fling update
Spring Fling has a Facebook page! Like it and you’ll get the latest information.

You can purchase wristbands for Spring Fling this week! This year it will be on Saturday, April 11, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. The location is at Abel’s North on Parmer/Amherst. This is an opportunity for parents to have a night out and help a great cause. It will be an adults only event. Tickets are $20 for pre-sale, $25 the week of and at the door. Save these dates for Family Night
We have more Summitt Family Nights lined up this semester, so come out, enjoy a meal with your friends and help raise money for Summitt. More information coming soon regarding specific times.
* Every Saturday: Bullritos (9828 Great Hills Trail) – From noon to 9 p.m. They support all of the Anderson vertical team schools every Saturday during the school year. Just tell them you’re with Summitt and a portion of the sales goes to us.
* Every other Friday: Rita’s ice – 2:30 p.m. at the school entrance. This is until the end of the school year. It’s $3 per cup. Cash only.
* April 1 – Chipotle (6301 W. Parmer at McNeil)
* April 28 – Blue Baker (10000 Research at the Arboretum)
* June 2 – Phil’s Ice House/Amy’s Ice Cream (13265 Hwy 183N)

  • Book Spring Read-a-Thon Awards will be announced this Friday, March 13, at morning assembly. Come find out the top readers at Summitt. Way to go Eagles!

Counselor’s Corner
Congratulations to Ms. Brannies’s Kindergarten class! They won the February Attendance Award. Their attendance for February was 97.7%. They only had 9 absences for the entire month. Other teachers who submitted calendars were:


Thank you to all who participated. For the month of March we will be keeping calendars that track the number of tardies each day in each class. If we all work together we can reduce the number of students who arrive late. Parents, thanks for your support in getting your students to school on time.

Kinder registration date change
Pre-K early registration begins the week of April 6; Kindergarten registration has been changed to Thursday, May 7 at 9 a.m. ( is reminding parents that they can go directly to ( and order a certified birth certificate ( for $22, the same price as a walk-in or mail order. This online service, offered in English and Spanish, provides parents with a straightforward, secure option for ordering their child’s birth certificate ( . The orders are fulfilled by the Texas Department of State Health Services ( . Here is a

Support Anderson HS Speech and Debate
There will be a Huge Garage Sale on Saturday, March 14 from 8 am to 1 pm hosted by the AHS Speech and Debate Booster Club. It will be held in the Anderson Student Parking Lot close to the corner of Mesa and Steck. Come support our team! All proceeds go toward expenses to support the Speech and Debate team and coaches.

Austin Child Guidance Center event
ACGC is hosting a FREE Parent Workshop titled, “Divorce and Parental Separation: Helping Children Cope” on Thursday, April 9th from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. This workshop draws primarily from Gary Neuman’s approach to helping families with divorce as described in his book Helping Your Kids Cope with Divorce the Sandcastles Way.You can register here ( or call the center at 512-451-2242. Free child care will be provided for children two years and up. Space is limited so please reserve early.

Robotics Summer Camp
Enjoy creative problem-solving and hands-on learning with the award-winning Anderson High School Robotics Team. Pop Warner football and cheer registration
Trojans Pop Warner Football and Cheer will begin registration on Wednesday, April 1. Register early so you can get a spot. There’s already a lot of interest in Cheer and there are limited spots.

Summer camps at Anderson
Looking for fun camps for your student this summer? Consider camp at Anderson High School. There are many camps for elementary (and older) students this summer: cheer, theater, tennis, football, volleyball, dance, and more. Check out the page with listings:

Camp at Ann Richards School
Spend a week participating in structured activities that promote wellness, leadership, and teamwork while having fun! Our Ann Richards School high school students design and facilitate this camp, and we accept 60 campers who are rising 3rd elementary schools. Camp is June 15-19, 2015. Help at Adelphi Acres garden
Help our neighborhood community garden, Adelphi Acres, get ready for Spring planting and its Grand Opening scheduled for March 28th. There are workdays every Saturday and Sunday from 9-12 pm. We hope you’ll join your neighbors to clean and beautify this park and surrounding greenbelt and stock up on plants and seeds for your garden. Check out these pages for more information: and

Project Graduation Spring Flower Sales ends Friday
Project Graduation is an all-night alcohol and drug-free party for graduating seniors at Anderson. Two different varieties of beautiful one gallon plants are on sale for $9 each: Geraniums – red or salmon OR New Guinea Impatiens – Hot pink or white.

Orders and payment are due by March 13, 2015. Plants will be available for pickup on Friday, March 27, 2015, from 9am-5pm at Anderson (corner of Mesa and Cima Serena).
