Spring Fling news
Our major fundraiser this semester is Spring Fling. Proceeds help fund our technology teacher, Mrs. Barbara Neill. AISD does not provide a teacher who will teach computer skills to our students. The PTA provides Mrs. Neill’s salary with money raised at Spring Fling.

This year it will be on Saturday, April 11, from 6:30-9:30 p.m. The location is at Abel’s North on Parmer/Amherst. This is an opportunity for parents to have a night out and help a great cause. It will be an adults only event. Tickets are $20 for pre-sale, $25 the week of and at the door. Ticket price includes unlimited appetizers and 2 drink tickets. Donate handbags and backpacks
Fifth grader Kara Moy is working on her Girl Scout Bronze Award and she’s collecting new backpacks and new or gently used purses for Texas Advocacy Project’s Hope Campaign. Texas Advocacy Project is a statewide non-profit that provides legal solutions to end violence in the home. There is a donation box in the Great Hall for the backpacks and purses until March 10. Kara’s Girl Scout Troop 1450 will sort through the items which will then be given to shelters across Texas. More information about the Hope Campaign is at www.texasadvocacyproject.org.

Our next big Box Tops submission date is Monday, March 2. You can help by getting your Box Tops turned in by Feb. 20. Thanks to all of your neat clipping, we surpassed our goal of $1,000 but let’s keep it going so that we may finish out the year with a big bang!

Need 2-liter bottles
In science, 4th graders will be working on the Organisms and Environment unit in March. We will be making homemade ecosystems out of 2 liter bottles. We are kindly asking for donations of clear 2-liter soda bottles. Please empty and rinse them out before donating. We are hoping to have one per student. We will have a box labeled “4th Grade Soda Bottles” in the Great Hall where the bottles can be dropped off.
