Third grade news
We are excited about the new school year. We will be using our assignment books and binders right away, so let us know if you are going to need help getting those or any school supplies. We can help! If you see her in the halls, please help us welcome Mrs. Wilson to our third grade team. We look forward to meeting and getting to know all of you this year. We will send home phone numbers and e-mails soon, so that you can easily contact us. Welcome back! It will be a great year!
Girl Scouts meeting
Summitt Girl Scout Troops are forming. Adult Volunteers and Girls (grades K-5) interested in joining Girl Scouts are invited to attend a membership meeting on Tuesday, 9/3/13, at 6 PM in the Summitt Library. Light refreshments will be served and The Amazing Aaron will be performing! For more information or questions, please email SummittGirlScouts@gmail.com.
PE News from Ms. Comsudi
We will be kicking off the new school year with some fun cooperative games in the Summitt gym. I would like to welcome Stephen Woodward to the physical education team. He will be teaching here at Summitt on A and B days, and Wooten Elementary on C days. Stephen is a graduate of Texas State University and he is excited to start his teaching career here in Austin ISD.
Marathon Kids registration forms will be handed out the first week of September. I highly encourage you to register your son or daughter, as this is a completely FREE program. Once a registration form is turned in, we will give your child a running log. Have them post that somewhere at home where they can keep track of any distance they run or walk. When they reach 26.2 miles, they will turn in back into me. FREE t-shirts will be given out in the Spring, in which they will be able to attend a final mile celebration and receive a medal! This is a fantastic way to encourage your kiddos to be active 🙂 The Kick-off Event will be held on Saturday, October 5th at UT. More information can be found at www.marathonkids.org.
We will also have a Y-tie fundraiser and a Summitt Family Night Out this September. More information to come in the next few weeks! Thanks and hope you have a wonderful time here at Summitt Elementary!
Fall Fest volunteer opportunity
We need your help in Fall Fest planning! We need volunteers for all committees, including:
– Volunteers to organize food donations from Summitt families
– Runners the day of for food/supplies
– Recycling committee
– Food court, grillers
Email Priscilla at email@example.com to get involved.
Contact for Inflatables needed
Summitt PTA would love to have a couple of inflatables again this year at Fall Fest. If anyone has a contact at a company that could give us a discount or even donate the use of an inflatable PLEASE contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Don’t forget your Box Tops!
Hopefully you have been collecting box tops over the summer! When school starts, have your child put them in the box marked “Box Tops” in the school office. Be sure to label the bag or envelope with your child’s name and teacher’s name. Each submission enters your child for a weekly ice cream drawing, and each box top earns money for the school!
Submit Campbell’s “Labels for Education” the same way–each label earns a point, which can be redeemed for rewards for the school. If you have any questions, please contact Karen Hale at email@example.com.
